Students who are experienced and demonstrate conscientiousness with a clear understanding of the research in the RMG Labs are eligible to participate in the annual Excellence in Research Program and Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program Symposium at the end of every academic year. In the past, students have participated in and/or earned the following honors:
The Award: The ADRIANA award is given annually to the best excellence in research project that has utilized Drosophila as a model organism. The award consists of a cash prize of $500 and a plaque.

Excellence in Research Program
The School of Biological Sciences believes that successful participation in creative research is one of the highest academic goals undergraduates can attain. Students enrolled in Undergraduate Research, and who meet eligibility requirements, have an opportunity to present their scientific data to the academic community at the Undergraduate Research Symposium by participating in the Excellence in Research Program. Those students who successfully complete the program are rewarded with Excellence in Research in Biological Sciences and have their research papers published in this journal.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program
Research and creative activities are an integral component of the education undergraduates receive at UCI, regardless of their career choice. UROP provides funding in support of UCI faculty-mentored undergraduate research and creative projects. Students can apply for funding by submitting a proposal during Calls for Proposals in the Fall and Spring Quarters of each school year.
